The UN Review Conference began with progressive statements from a number of high-level representatives including the EU, UK, Norway and Canada.
The Million Faces petition was presented to Kofi Annan by the 'Millioneth' Face, Julius Arile from Kenya, as well as the international directors of Amnesty, IANSA and Oxfam. Included in these faces were the over 10,000 Canadian faces that were delivered to the Canadian government at a June 7th event. Ploughshares staff were active at the conference with Ken Epps being an NGO member of the Canadian Delegation and Lynne Griffiths-Fulton representing Ploughshares and the Small Arms Working Group of the Canadian Peacebuilding Coordinating Committee.
